2009 Rules & Regulations
HOUSTON
FARM & RANCH CLUB
Only vehicles with appropriate stickers
may enter the area reserved for the Salt Grass Trail.
All fires must be contained and not on the ground.
TRAIL ROUTE
All campers, trucks,
etc. are requested to take alternate roads to ALL CAMPSITES and NOT
use the trail route
MEMORIAL PARK
No glass containers.
No vehicles other than wagons and horses can leave roadbed and/or
paved surfaces. Do not cross ditches or curbs. Do not unload on Memorial Drive.
DO NOT
BLOCK ANT DRIVEWAYS OR WATER TROUGHS. ALL WAGONS WILL CAMP IN PARK - ANY
ONE LEAVING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED THE NEXT YEAR. ALL FIRES MUST BE CONTAINED
AND NOT ON THE GROUND.
Memorial
Park passes will be issued at Farm and Ranch by your wagon Boss and Trail
Boss
VET
ON DUTY: At Main Gate
RIDERS
1. Every rider must be
assigned to a wagon
2.
Every rider (horseback
or wagon) must wear 2009 Wagon Button. BUTTON MUST BE VISIBLE AT
ALL TIMES. BUTTONS AND/OR PATCHES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS AND OTHER TRAIL RIDES
ARE NOT TO BE WORN.
3. Each rider is entitled to one vehicle decal for use at campsites other than Memorial Park
4. Riders are expected to have their 2009 membership card on their persons at all times.
5.
Each rider must furnish
his own bedroll, horse, tie rope, stake, and halter unless you have made
other arrangements with your wagon boss.
DOGS
NO DOGS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE TRAIL RIDE...NO EXCEPTIONS. Dogs in camp must
be on leashes
MEMBERSHIP
AND DUES
1. Dues are $45.00 for all riders thirteen years
of age or over. Dues are $20.00 for all riders twelve years of age
and under. A charge of $25.00 will be collected for all checks returned to
our bank.
2. Deadline
for membership is January 22, 2009. Memberships will be accepted January 23
- February 5 at
DOUBLE THE MEMBERSHIP FEE. NO MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE SOLD AFTER FEB. 5, 2005!
3. No membership
application will be accepted without signature of applicant & signature
of wagon boss with
with which you will be riding unless approved prior by wagon boss.
4. Persons
under 18 years of age must have signed parental or guardian approval before
being issued a
membership. They must also have a sponsor who will be responsible for then
the entire ride.
5. No refunds will be made after receipt and approval of application.
GENERAL
RULES FOR EVERY RIDER & WAGON
1. Advertising is not
permitted on any wagon, horse, rider or equipment vehicle. Ranch brands and
group names are permitted but you are required to make them look "western".
2.
Western type clothes-cowboy
hats, boots, jeans, etc., MUST be worn on all the trail rides.
The idea is to look like cowboys going to a rodeo. NO BALL CAPS, T-SHIRTS,
OR TENNIS
SHOES.
3. Every rider is responsible for his or her behavior and conduct for the duration of the entire ride.
4. Every Wagon Boss is responsible for his or her group.
5. No "DOUBLE RIDING" on horseback by anyone at any time--on the trail or in the parade.
6.
No public drinking or
other visible alcoholic items are allowed at any time trail is moving.
NO ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IS ALLOWED DURING THE PARADE. Riders not complying
with this will be asked to leave the ride.
7. Riders must ride behind their assigned wagons at all times when the trail is moving.
8. No stallions or bulls are permitted.
9. No horses or mules measuring under 48 inches are permitted.
10. No firearms may be carried by any member of this association.
11.
Riders must NOT throw
cans, bottles, cups, papers, wrappers, or any other litter or debris into
ditches, roads or pastures. Your wagon boss will furnish a garbage bag inside
the rear of his wagon.
You are to use this, and only this for throw always.
12.
All horses must be vaccinated
for VEE. Riders must have a health certificate signed by a licensed
veterinarian within the last 30 days and a negative coggins within the last
12 months. This includes
all rental horses. All riders will need to turn a copy of both their coggins
papers and health certificate
in to their wagon boss before unloading animals at ride.
STATE
LAW REQUIRES HEALTH CERTIFICATE AND NEGATIVE
COGGINS - FAILURE TO PRODUCE WILL SEND YOUR ANIMAL
HOME
13.
No
horseplay with ropes, whips, or any other type of equipment which might be
hazardous or
cause injury to others or to livestock will be tolerated.
14. There shall be no public use of indecent language either spoken or written.
15. For safety sake, use of nonskid shoes is recommended on riding stock.
Any
infraction of any one of the above rules will be considered sufficient cause
to
cancel the membership of the offending person.
WAGON
RULES
1. Wagons
must be fully registered and a wagon fee ($!00.00) paid prior to December
15, 2008.
Each wagon application must be accompanied with a list of at least ten paid
up SGT members.
No wagons may register after December 15, 2008 except with the approval of
the
Executive Committee.
2.
Wagons
must have a minimum of ten (10) and not more than fifty-five (55) riders unless
cleared
by the Executive Committee and Trail Boss.
3.
Every
wagon must have a Wagon Boss and Assistant Wagon Boss. (One must be with the
wagon
at all times, day and night, on the trail and in camp).
4. No rubber tired wagons are allowed
5. Wagons must stay in line and in numerical order at all times.
6. Each wagon MUST carry its own firewood, food and drinking water at all times.
7. Each wagon unit must be equipped with BREECHING HARNESS AND BRAKES.
8. Each wagon will provide their own water trough. SGT will provide the water.
CAMP
RULES
1.Each
wagon group is responsible for a thorough cleanup of its campsite. Campsites
will be inspected daily following each departure. Wagon bosses will have to
send someone
back to clean up any camp left untidy or not sufficiently cleaned.
2.
Each
wagon must carry receptacles for trash on the trail. Garbage must be placed
in
plastic bags and securely tied. Loose garbage or paper sacks will not be picked
up.
trash is to be placed by your stake prior to leaving in the morning.
3. Visitors are asked to leave night camps by 10:00PM
4. Camp curfew is 10:30PM..No loud music, talking, etc. will be allowed after that time.
5.
NO HORSES MAY BE RIDDEN WITHIN THE CAMPSITE
AREA LATER THAN 15 MINUTES AFTER ARRIVAL AT
EACH NIGHT CAMP
6.
Horses
or mules may NOT be tied to fence posts, trees or other objects on camp land
or
park property. It is each rider's responsibility to have his own stake.
THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
7.
Vehicles
(trucks, campers, etc.) accompanying each wagon should be parked in position
before the wagons and riders arrive at each campsite. Vehicle traffic will
be at an absolute
minimum at each campsite. Wagon numbers must be displayed to insure proper
camp
assignment.
8. There will be no panels or electric fences allowed.
In
addition to all the Rules & Regulations stated above, the following rules
are from
the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
PARADE
1. Riders
will be instructed line up procedures prior to the parade.
2. No Double riding at any time.
3. Do not throw objects from wagon or horseback during parade.
4.
No rider
is to have in his possession or display any alcoholic beverage, bottles or
cans
OF ANY KIND during the parade.
5.
No riding on grassy areas or yards coming out of Memorial Park or on you way
to or
from the parade.
6.
ANY PERSON BRINGING A STALLION OR BULL INTO
THE PARK WILL BE ORDERED TO LEAVE AND DENIED
THE PRIVILEGE TO COME BACK
7. Each person riding in a parade wagon must wear his or her button
ANY
RIDER VIOLATING THESE RULES WILL BE WITHDRAWN FROM THE PARADE
AND ALL TRAIL OFFICIALS NOTIFIED TO PROHIBIT THAT RIDER FROM
PARTICIPATING IN ANY FUTURE PARADES SPONSORED BY THE
HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW & RODEO.
